Home Depot, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, has recently announced that its board of directors approved a fourth quarter cash dividend of 22.5 cents per share. This is the 80th consecutive quarter the Company has paid a cash dividend. The dividend is payable on March 22, 2007 to shareholders of record on the close of business on March 8, 2007.
During fiscal 2006, The Home Depot returned $1.4 billion in cash to shareholders through dividends paid. The Company twice increased the dividend by 50 percent during 2006, resulting in a dividend payout ratio of approximately 24 percent. The Company also returned cash to shareholders by spending $6.7 billion to repurchase 174 million shares. Through fiscal 2006, the Company has repurchased 19 percent of its outstanding shares.
